Beaches

Preveli Beach

Preveli beach is located in exotic scenery composed by a river, waterfalls, palm trees and fine white sand. Kourtaliotis river falls into Libyan sea forming several lacy coasts. You can reach it by boat departing from Plakia, Aghia Galini or even from Sfakia. Finally, you can also reach this beautiful coast by passing the modern bridge located before Kato Preveli monastery.

Triopetra Beach

Triopetra beach is about 40 minutes from Rethimno. The name of the beach was taken from the three stones that come out from the sea in front of the beach. This beach hosts more locals than tourists. It's a beautiful beach with umbrellas, sun beds and a restaurant. The beach is known for its spectacular sunset that one should wait to see it.

Agia Galini

Aghia Galini resort is located 58 km south of Rethimno. The beach of Agia Galini is well organized and visitors have the opportunity to enjoy various activities like water sports and diving. The beach is not recommended for those seeking peace as during summer the beach is always crowded. Agia Galini is a destination appropriate for those who want to spend some time near the sea and stay up late enjoying the nightlife and the fine restaurants of the village.

Plakias Beach

To get to Plakias, you follow the road Rethimno - Aghia Galini through the Kourtaliotiko gorge. Plakias beach is particularly popular in summer with numerous options for accommodation and dining, many swimming facilities (sun beds, umbrellas) and sea sports. It begins from the village and extends east.
